What is a Generic in Canada? Health Canada (the Canadian regulatory board) evaluates every Canadian generic for their safety, effectiveness, and quality. Every generic used in Canada has the same medical ingredients as their brand name counterpart and is considered bioequivalent to the brand name medication. The quality standards for brand name drugs and generic drugs are the same. All of the ingredients, facilities, and manufacturing processes must meet Canadian federal guidelines for Good Manufacturing Practices. In addition, Canadian generic manufacturers must perform 'comparative bioavailability' studies to demonstrate that their generic products deliver the same amount of medicinal ingredient at the same rate as the brand name medication. Nearly 45% of all prescriptions filled in Canada use generic medication and some hospitals exclusively use generic drugs. For more information, please visit

About Motegrity 2 mg

What is Motegrity?

The active ingredient in Resolor 2mg is prucalopride. Prucalopride belongs to a class of serotonin agonists known as dihydrobenzofurancarboxamide compounds. It is a prokinetic medication indicated in the treatment of chronic idiopathic constipation.

Motegrity - Mechanism of Action

Motegrity acts at the serotonin (5-HT4) receptors to stimulate movement along the intestines, both improving gastroduodenal motility and stimulating proximal colonic movement. Movement is stimulated through peristalsis type movement allowing propulsive force for improved defecation and regulation of bowel movements.

Motegrity (Prucalopride) Dosage

The most common dosage for Motegrity is 2mg daily, taking as a single doe. Often doses are titrated up from lower strengths and although 2mg daily is the maximum recommended strength, it is the most commonly prescribed strength.

As prucalopride as a half-life of around 24 hours you should not double your dose if you miss a dose. If you miss a dose take your next dose as soon as you remember, taking your next dose 24 hour later.
